Construit par Rheinmetall – Borsic, ce véhicule amphibie était destiné à franchir des cours d’eau, et pouvait éviter, de la sorte, la construction de ponts flottants. Rapidement, les Allemands pensèrent s’en servir comme ravitailleur de troupes entre mer et plage, lors de leur projet d’invasion de l’Angleterre en 1940. La Bataille d’Angleterre eu lieu dans les airs, gagnée par la RAF, la Luftwaffe y perdit un très grand nombre d’appareils et surtout de pilotes. Dès lors, toute tentative de débarquer en Angleterre fut écartée et les Land Wasser Schlepper servirent au sein de l’Afrika Corps et sur le front Russe. The Germans soon thought of using it as a troop supply ship between sea and beach, when they planned to invade England in 1940. La maquette » Hobby Boss » au 1/35 montre un L.D.W capturé et remis en état par les troupes de l’Armée Rouge en 1943 . Aucune difficulté de montage, la maquette s’assemble parfaitement » from the box « , présentée en diorama urbain avec rail tramway, dans un ancien cadre photo. Le socle en pavés et le poteau électrique du tramway, sont de la marque Mini Art. Dans ma boîte aux trésors, j’ai trouvé un reste de moto BMW et d’un semi chenillé Allemand, pour un peu plus de réalisme.
