J’ai commencé le maquettisme il y a quelques mois, et pour mon premier diorama j’ai eu l’idée de représenter une rencontre entre un Tigre et un Sherman Firefly. Une jeep de ravitaillement suit ce dernier pour lui donner du carburant. L’affrontement étant inévitable, les artilleurs se préparent au combat. Mais au moment de tirer, un artilleur allemand annonce que le canon est enrayé et force son commandant de char à annoncer le repli immédiat. Le Sherman peut donc faire le plein d’essence et la jeep continuer son travail dans d’autres unités.
« Jeep and Sherman Firefly versus Tiger
I started modeling a few months ago, and for my first diorama I had the idea to represent a meeting between a Tiger and a Sherman Firefly. A refuelling jeep followed him to give him fuel. The confrontation being inevitable, the gunners prepared for the fight. But at the moment of firing, a German gunner announces that the gun is jammed and forces his tank commander to announce the immediate withdrawal. The Sherman can refuel and the jeep continue its work in other units.
Le Sherman Firefly était un char allié pendant la Seconde Guerre Mondiale. Il était spécial car il avait un canon antichar à la place d’un canon basique. Il pouvait donc détruire les Tigres et les Panzers. Mais le bout du canon étant différent, les alliés durent le peindre de la même couleur que les canons normaux. Ainsi, le temps mis par les Allemands à identifier le tank leur était souvent fatal. »
The Sherman Firefly was an allied tank during World War II. He was special because he had an anti-tank gun instead of a basic gun. So he could destroy the Tigers and Panzers. But the barrel tip being different, the allies had to paint it in the same color as the normal cannons. Thus, the time taken by the Germans to identify the tank was often fatal. »
