Voilà plus de 15 ans, j’avais essayé de monter la maquette du TITANIC de chez ACADEMY, résultat un fiasco total. J’ai voulu réessayer avec le model du TITANIC de chez revell (fait pour le centenaire, pensant naïvement à un nouveau moule). J’ai acquis le navire, le pont imitation bois et le kit photo découpe Eduard (kit introuvable). A l’ouverture de la boîte, grosse déception, le kit n’a rien de nouveau et celui-ci est archi vieux (quel retour en arrière). A cet instant, je sais que je vais passer de très mauvais moment !!!!  Apprêtage des pièces en blanc puis peinture de la coque, au moment de la mise en place des ponts, rien ne va comme il faut !!!! après plein de scrogneugneu et des litres de café, tout roule. Et la patatra ! lors de la mise en place des pont imitations bois, rien ne correspond, je m’aperçois que le kit est prévu pour le kit academy et non le revell !!!!!

Donc changement de plan et peinture du pont à l’ancienne (sous couche crème puis peinture à l’huile). Résultat très convaincant. Concernant le montage des superstructures, pareil autant de souci (pas droit, pièces tordues), les seuls montages sans difficulté, seront les cheminées. Pour faire les vitres du navire, j’utilise un vieux produit de chez humbrol. Résultat très convaincant. Mise en place des rambardes sans difficulté. Mise en place des câbles de cheminée avec difficultés pour certaines.

Mise en place de l’équipage ainsi que des passagers (j’avais dans mon stock une vieille référence Eduard pour des passagers de paquebot. Les décalcomanies sont à chier mais cela fera l’affaire (je n’en peux plus de ce navire, je souhaite passer à autre chose). Le navire sera mis sur un diorama en pleine mer. Quelques temps après avoir reçu la vitrine, en voulant la manipuler, je suis tombé avec, et forcement en éclatant la vitrine sans aucune blessure sur moi ou de dégâts dans le garage. Donc en attendant d’en faire une autre, création d’une vitrine avec du film alimentaire.

En conclusion, une maquette horrible à monter, je la déconseille vivement sauf si vous voulez vous dégouter de la maquette.

More than 15 years ago, I tried to build the TITANIC model from ACADEMY, resulting in a total fiasco. I wanted to try again with the TITANIC model from revell (made for the centenary, naively thinking of a new mold). I bought the ship, the wooden bridge and the photo kit cut Eduard (kit not found). At the opening of the box, big disappointment, the kit is nothing new and this one is very old (what a step back). At this moment, I know that I will have a very bad time!!  Priming the parts in white then painting the hull, when setting up the bridges, nothing goes as it should!!! after a lot of scrogneugneu and liters of coffee, everything rolls. And the patatra! When setting up the bridge imitations wood, nothing matches, I realize that the kit is intended for the academy kit and not the revell!!!

So change of plan and paint the bridge the old way (under cream layer then oil paint). Very convincing result. Regarding the installation of superstructures, the same as many worries (not straight, bent parts), the only assemblies without difficulty, will be the chimneys. To make the windows of the ship, I use an old product from humbrol. Very convincing result. Installation of guardrails without difficulty. Installation of chimney cables with difficulties for some.

Setting up the crew and passengers (I had in my stock an old Eduard reference for passenger ships. The decals are shit but it will do the trick (I can’t take this ship anymore, I want to move on). The ship will be put on a diorama at sea. Some time after receiving the window, wanting to handle it, I fell with it, and inevitably by bursting the window without any injury on me or damage in the garage. So while waiting to make another, creating a showcase with food film.

In conclusion, a horrible model to assemble, I strongly advise against it unless you want to disgust yourself from the model.
