CAMPI EXPO 2023 fut comme un kouign Amann avec sa jolie boule de vanille. Le plaisir du gâteau chaud plein de beurre avec la fraîcheur de la glace qui pique les dents fatiguées. Que dire de cette sympathique édition ? Déjà, que l’on ne rajeunit pas. CAMPI EXPO 2023 was like a Amann kouign with its pretty vanilla ball. The pleasure of hot cake full of butter with the freshness of the ice that bites the tired teeth. What about this friendly edition? First of all, we’re not getting any younger.

CAMPI EXPO 2023, c’est des mois de préparation. Le dossier lancé début septembre 2022, on affichait quasiment complet à la mi-octobre 2022. Remettre CAMPI EXPO en place, c’est toujours rechercher des nouveautés, un nouveau petit « trophée souvenir » fabriqué par les lutins Campi durant l’hiver.

Et surtout, l’envie de changer des médailles traditionnelles que l’on est content d’avoir sur le coup puis que l’on abandonne définitivement au fond d’un tiroir. Il fallait trouver quelque chose de nouveau, éventuellement exposable dans la vitrine avec ses kits. Une tête bien pensante apporta un nouveau projet : des plaquettes trophées or et argent. Les petits lutins se mirent au boulot. Un gentil figuriniste (Yann) nous créa la médaille, fort très très belle ma foi. Il ne restait qu’à concrétiser le projet, le modelage de 100 pièces, la création des étiquettes et la rumba du pinceau pour les lutins sur plusieurs séances. Le résultat fut convaincant pour tout le monde. Maintenant, restait à convaincre les récipiendaires.

A nice figurinist (Yann) created the medal for us, very beautiful my faith. All that remained was to make the project a reality, the modelling of 100 pieces, the creation of labels and the rumba of the brush for the elves over several sessions. The result was convincing for everyone. Now, the recipients had to be convinced.

Jeudi soir 20 avril, rendez-vous à la salle pour le montage du bassin avec notre principal maître d’œuvre Jean-Bertrand. Rassemblement d’une bande de jeunes (enfin, plus trop !) et l’affaire fut rondement menée. Merci aux bénévoles qui nous ont aidés. La bâche fait quand même 500 kgs et il faut du monde pour la mettre en place. Thursday evening, April 20, go to the room for the installation of the basin with our main master builder Jean-Bertrand. Vendredi 21 avril, rendez-vous à la salle à 8 heures pour les campistes et nos gentils bénévoles (quoi ??? 8 heures ??? criaient nos grands ados) ! Tout le monde est là, enfin presque, il manque les ados qui font dodo. Et l’éternel montage recommence, acheminement des tables et chaises et tout le monde suit Pierrot qui cale chaque stand au centimètre près. Friday, April 21, go to the room at 8:00 am for campsites and our friendly volunteers (what??? 8:00 am?? shouted our great teenagers)! Everyone’s here, almost, you know, missing out on the sleepy teens. And the eternal assembly begins again, moving tables and chairs and everyone follows Pierrot who holds each stand to the centimeter.

A l’extérieur, un gentil Monsieur de la commune commence le remplissage du bassin, il fera 36000 aller-retour toute la journée pour nous mettre un bon niveau d’eau (tout cela pour entendre des exposants râler : « il n’y a pas assez d’eau ! »). 10 h 30, la salle est parée. On libère tout le monde (comme quoi, on aurait pu commencer à 11 heures, non mais quoi !). Et on commence le marquage des stands. A midi, pause bien méritée. Des exposants sont déjà arrivés. Reprise des hostilités à 14 heures, on accueille déjà une dizaine d’exposants et tout le monde s’installe dans la joie et la bonne humeur. Livraison du bar. L’intendante est au taquet et installe sa gargote avec l’aide de petits lutins musclés. Je crois que l’on n’a jamais vu autant de monde arriver le vendredi après-midi jusqu’à tard dans la soirée (plus d’un tiers des inscrits). La garde de nuit se met en place, indispensable, merci à eux.

Samedi 22 avril à 8h sur le pont après avoir pris au passage le stock de pain préparé par notre boulanger affilié, et notre commande de croissants. Ça va très vite. Les exposants se succèdent à l’arrivée, ça se bouscule à la table concours (on enregistre exactement 4250 pièces au concours, non ! Je déconne ! Un peu moins, exactement 4125). Comme d’habitude, l’intendante avec ses petites lutines s’activent au bar, café d’accueil, préparation des sandwiches. Un succès me diront-elles «ils sont tout bouffé !». Préparation du pot d’inauguration à 11h. Nouveauté au café d’accueil servi avec un bon croissant.

The stewardess is on the hook and installs her gargote with the help of small muscular elves. I think we have never seen so many people arrive on Friday afternoon until late in the evening (more than a third of the registrants). The night guard is set up, indispensable, thanks to them.

Saturday 22 April at 8 am on the bridge after having taken the stock of bread prepared by our affiliate baker, and our order of croissants. It’s going really fast. The exhibitors succeed each other at the finish, it is crowded at the contest table (we record exactly 4250 pieces at the contest, no! I’m kidding! A little less, exactly 4125). As usual, the housekeeper with her little leprechauns is busy at the bar, reception cafe, preparation of sandwiches. A success will tell me «they are all eaten!». Preparation of the opening pot at 11am. Novelty at the welcome café served with a good croissant.

Madame GUILLOIS adjointe aux associations, arrive en premier, et doit rechercher les coups de cœur : elle prend cette mission très au sérieux. Mr Patrick BERTHELOT, Maire de Crozon arrive suivi de Mr Jean CORNEC, ancien Maire de CROZON (qui nous a fait notre très beau local), accompagné de Mr MEROUR Maire de Camaret. Les coups de cœur sont nommés, on attaque l’inauguration, Mr le Maire a la surprise de se retrouver encadré par deux très belles jeunes femmes (normal, ce sont les filles du patron !) qui lui tendent un ruban tricolore. Il le coupe avec plaisir en disant, si je ne me trompe pas : «ça, c’est une vraie inauguration». Les coups de cœur sont décernés. Une plaquette CAMPI EXPO 2023 est offerte à leur grande surprise à chaque autorité et on attaque l’apéro où les pichets de Kir Sauvignon ne cessent de se remplir. Après-midi sympa, gestion du concours, il y a du boulot pour les campistes partout, buvette, concours, caisse, bassin, parking…..etc……..

Mrs GUILLOIS, assistant to the associations, arrives first, and must seek the favourites: she takes this mission very seriously. Mr Jean BERTHELOT, Mayor of Crozon arrives followed by Mr Jean CORNEC, former Mayor of CROZON (who made us our very beautiful local), accompanied by Mr MEROUR Mayor of Camaret. The favourites are named, we attack the inauguration, Mr Mayor is surprised to find himself surrounded by two very beautiful young women (normal, it is the girls of the boss!) who give him a tricolor ribbon. He is happy to cut it by saying, if I am not mistaken, “this is a real inauguration”. Favourites are awarded. A CAMPI EXPO 2023 brochure is offered to their great surprise to each authority and we attack the aperitif where the pitchers of Kir Sauvignon keep filling. Nice afternoon, management of the contest, there is work for campers everywhere, bar, competition, cashier, basin, parking…. .etc……..

Mention spéciale à nos jeunes qui assurent d’initiative la gestion parking, bravo du beau boulot, un vrai plaisir de vous voir et de vous avoir. Et aussi à nos chefs barbecue sans oublier nos afficionados à la caisse et dans la caisse. 16 heures, l’intendante, des campistes et des bénévoles s’éclipsent discrètement pour la préparation de la soirée de fête. Fin d’après-midi en pente douce. Mise en place de la garde de nuit, nourrie à coup de pizza préparées par l’ OCEANIC à CROZON.

Direction la salle de fête. Les bénévoles ont bien bossé et c’est très beau. Notre animateur Jean-Yves a tout installé son matos, c’est sa dernière prestation malheureusement pour nous. Les convives arrivent. Ils attendent patiemment 19h30 l’ouverture, sous peine comme annoncé : «d’être fouetté par le Président et d’être de corvée de plonge». Et la folle soirée commence (des photos circulent rapidement sur FB). Je n’en dis pas plus. Au menu, assiette anglaise, gast ! (expression Bretonne) mauvais plan, ils ont mangé tout le pain !, bœuf bourguignon concocté par notre chef traiteur local et deux superbes gâteaux fait par notre pâtissier préféré. Le tout à volonté, oui, je dis bien à volonté, et j’ai pris les noms des gourmands qui sont retournés se servir et qui ont rendu une assiette tellement propre que l’on pouvait la ranger directement.

And the crazy evening begins (photos circulate quickly on FB). I say no more. On the menu, English plate, gast! (Breton expression) Bad plan, they ate all the bread! , beef burgundy concocted by our local chef and two superb cakes made by our favorite pastry chef. All at will, yes, I say at will, and I took the names of the greedy ones who returned to serve themselves and who made a plate so clean that it could be stored directly.

Dimanche matin 23 avril : sur le pont à 8 heures. Je suis surpris de voir de nombreux exposants arriver très tôt, bien avant 9 heures. Aucun incident durant les nuits écoulées, à part une petite fuite d’eau dans le toit qui a coulé sur le réseau de train de notre ami Marc, mais il ne nous en a pas tenu rigueur et ça repart sur des chapeaux de roue. Ça bosse pour les responsables du concours car les résultats doivent être proclamés à 11h. Distribution du petit trophée souvenir et du traditionnel diplôme de participation. Surprise : FR3 BRETAGNE vient nous rendre visite, une jeune équipe très très sympathique. Le 23 Avril, c’est une journée spéciale, car une fois de plus c’est l’anniversaire de l’intendante (qui a consacré déjà de nombreux jours d’anniversaire à CAMPI EXPO). Petite anecdote, CAMPI avait décidé de lui offrir un cadeau et un joli bouquet de fleurs. Nous nous étions entendu avec notre gentil fleuriste pour livrer le bouquet avant 11 heures à la salle. Mission accomplie, il arrive, il tombe sur une charmante dame, lui demande s’il elle fait partie de l’organisation et lui remet le bouquet, pas de bol, c’est l’intendante. La nouvelle a circulé parmi les exposants. A 11h30 on lui fait la surprise de tous lui chanter «joyeux anniversaire» (merci à tous pour cela, car on n’a pas tous les jours 20 ans !). Séquence émotion avec les cadeaux (pas par les fleurs déjà reçues).

Sunday morning 23 April: on the bridge at 8 am. I am surprised to see many exhibitors arrive very early, well before 9 am. No incident during the past nights, except a small water leak in the roof that sank on the train network of our friend Marc, but he did not hold it against us and it starts again on wheels. It works for the contest officials because the results have to be announced at 11:00. Distribution of the small souvenir trophy and the traditional participation diploma. Surprise: FR3 BRETAGNE comes to visit us, a very nice young team. April 23rd is a special day, because once again it is the Intendant’s birthday (who has already dedicated many anniversary days to CAMPI EXPO). A little anecdote, CAMPI had decided to give her a gift and a nice bouquet of flowers. We had agreed with our nice florist to deliver the bouquet before 11 o’clock in the room. Mission accomplished, he arrives, he comes across a charming lady, asks her if she is part of the organization and gives her the bouquet, no luck, it is the intendant. The news circulated among the exhibitors. At 11:30 we surprise him by singing «happy birthday» to him (thank you all for that, because we don’t have 20 years every day!). Emotional sequence with gifts (not by flowers already received).

Le pot débarrassé, c’est la ruée sur les merguez et l’américain et j’entendrais encore : «ils ont tout bouffé !». J’oubliais de vous parler du Quizz, géré de main de maître par Will et Yann. Questionnaire très bien élaboré par notre instituteur à la retraite Paul-Étienne ( je plaisante, il n’était pas instituteur). Les habitués se piquent au jeu. J’assiste au premier : le lancé d’anneaux, et bien….Messieurs-dames, si vous voulez participer au JO 2024, il va falloir s’entraîner ! trêve de plaisanterie, tout le monde s’amuse et c’est la franche rigolade. Merci aux gestionnaires de cette activité à leur patience pour rameuter les troupes et refaire les jeux à la demande.

Après-midi en pente douce. Le plaisir de découvrir de nouveaux exposants indépendants ou en club (comme l’équipe des sympathiques schtroumfs, ils se reconnaîtront).

Résultat du Quizz à 16 heures, tout le monde a gagné un truc pour les derniers et après épuisement des trucs, le suivant a gagné le sac qui servit à transporter les trucs. Pour passer ensuite à des lots plus sérieux, offert par AUX PAYS DES LEDS, une très belle dotation de maquettes offertes par AUX MODELES REDUITS DE BREST et un premier prix offert par notre CENTRE LECLERC de CROZON.

A 17h30, on décide de fermer, car la route attend de nombreux exposants. Tonnerre d’applaudissements, merci à tous, cela fait chaud au cœur des campistes. Et tout le monde s’en va, en une demi-heure la salle est vide, sauf notre ami Jean-Michel qui remballe sa grosse base sous-marine au 1/35, on l’invite au pot final au club avec nous.

Que dire en conclusion : un succès total, un public nombreux ravi de leur visite, de la convivialité et de l’amitié. Tout le monde se déclarant prêt à revenir l’année prochaine, une dame me demandant même une pré-inscription pour 2024. Quant à moi, je découvre les maquettes que je n’ai pas eu vraiment le temps de voir, avec toutes les photos communiquées gentiment par les exposants. Petite anecdote, l’intendante a une montre intelligente qui lui a indiqué qu’elle avait fait plus de 40 000 pas dans le WE et avoir monté et descendu 274 étages ! Fichtre ! Si j’en ai fait autant, j’ai peut-être maigri un peu…

Je remercie tout le monde et j’ai été très touché de vos nombreux témoignages de remerciements et d’encouragement à continuer. Cela occulte un peu tous les éternels insatisfaits qui, je pense, n’ont même pas idée d’une telle organisation. Merci aussi pour tous vos reportages photos qui seront prochainement publiés sur le site CAMPI, car il est vrai que je n’ai pas eu le temps d’en faire beaucoup.

And everyone leaves, in half an hour the room is empty, except our friend Jean-Michel who packs up his big underwater base at 1/35, we invite him to the final pot at the club with us.

What to say in conclusion: a total success, a large audience delighted with their visit, friendliness and friendship. Everyone declaring themselves ready to come back next year, a lady even asking me for a pre-registration for 2024. As for me, I discover the models that I did not really have time to see, with all the photos kindly communicated by the exhibitors. As a little anecdote, the steward has a smart watch that told her that she had made more than 40,000 steps in the weekend and had gone up and down 274 floors! Damn! If I’ve done so much, I may have lost some weight…

I thank everyone and I was very touched by your many testimonies of thanks and encouragement to continue. This somewhat obscures all the eternal dissatisfied who, I think, have no idea of such an organization.
