Au milieu des années 1970, l’entreprise brésilienne ENGESA (disparue depuis) lança, sur ses propres fonds, le développement d’un chasseur de chars à roues, armé d’un canon de 105 mm. Il porte le nom de SUCURI EE-17. Concept novateur pour l’époque, l’EE-17 servit principalement de base d’expériences à son successeur, l’EE-18 SUCURI 2 qui fut largement amélioré. Toutefois, ces deux prototypes n’ont connu aucun succès commercial alors qu’ils ont été présentés à quelques pays dont l’Inde. Le SUCURI EE-17 termina sa courte carrière chez un ferrailleur. In the mid-1970s, the Brazilian company ENGESA (which has since disappeared) launched, from its own funds, the development of a wheeled tank destroyer, armed with a 105 mm gun. It was named UPLOFA-17. Innovative concept for the time, the EE-17 was mainly used as a base of experiments for its successor, the EE-18 URL 2 which was largely improved. However, these two prototypes have not been commercially successful while they were presented to some countries including India. The CURI EE-17 finished its short career with a scrap dealer.
