Toute une histoire que ce BISMARCK ! Commencé il y a plus d’un an, terminé pour Noël 2024 ! J’avais fait la promesse à mon dernier petit-fils de lui monter ce bateau. Et puis, faisant aussi de la figurine, je me suis remis à peindre ces petits personnages. Voulant tenir ma promesse, stop pour les figurines, on reprend le bateau. Maquette très simple à monter. J’ai commencé par tout ce qui était superstructures, couleur gris bleu pour les ponts ( un mélange de ma création), gris clair pour les parties verticales. Quelques trous à percer pour les hublots. A suivre, les tourelles de petit calibre, la mise en place des ces tourelles et la pose des rambardes ARSENAL, (un petit bonjour à l’ami Jacques qui, s’il lit ce petit article se reconnaîtra). Quite a story this BISMARCK! Started more than a year ago, finished for Christmas 2024! I made a promise to my last grandson that I would take him on the boat. And then, also making figurines, I started painting these little characters again. Wanting to keep my promise, stop for the figurines, we take back the boat. Very simple model to assemble. I started with everything that was superstructures, blue gray color for the bridges ( a mixture of my creation), light gray for the vertical parts. A few holes for the portholes. To follow, the turrets of small caliber, the installation of these turrets and the laying of the railings ARSENAL, (a little hello to friend Jacques who, if he reads this little article will recognize).
Le montage de la coque. L’assemblage des deux parties s’avère parfois délicat. Mais avec un peu de patience, on y arrive. Avec quelquefois l’aide d’élastiques. Mise en place des arbres d’hélices. Un peu de masticage, un peu de ponçage et mise en peinture de cette coque. Toujours le même gris clair (PRINCE AUGUST), lie de vin mat pour la carène (peinture HELLER très couvrante). Mise en place du pont. Un peu de difficulté mais, je le répète, avec toujours un peu de patience, on y arrive. Pour la couleur du pont, un mélange d’ocre clair avec un peu de marron et le tour est joué. Peinture du col à mazout en se laissant guider par des scotchs TAMIYA posés après peinture du gris et du lie de vin. Peinture noire PRINCE AUGUST. Une fois l’ensemble fini, je passe deux couches de vernis mat. Cela permet de manipuler le bateau sans faire de dégâts de manipulation. Pose des hélices à peindre en couleur bronze. Mise en place des différents calques et un vernissage de ces calques toujours en mat. The assembly of the hull. The assembly of the two parts is sometimes tricky. But with a little patience, we get there. Sometimes with the help of elastics. Installation of propeller shafts. A little chewing, sanding and painting of this hull. Always the same light grey (PRINCE AUGUST), matt wine for the hull (very covering HELLER paint). Placement of the bridge. A little bit of difficulty but, again, with always a little patience, we get there. For the colour of the deck, a mix of light ocher with some brown and you’re done. Painting the oil neck by being guided by TAMIYA scotches laid after painting the gray and wine lees. Black paint PRINCE AUGUST. Once the set is finished, I apply two layers of matt varnish. This allows to handle the boat without making any handling damage. Installation of propellers to be painted in bronze color. Placement of the different layers and a varnishing of these layers always matte.
Je termine bien souvent le montage d’un bateau par la mise en place des grosses tourelles. Très facile à monter ces tourelles. Et pour parachever le tout, les rambardes sont posées (toujours ARSENAL). La pose du bateau sur un socle, une belle vitrine pour le protéger de la poussière et des mains bien souvent la cause de pas mal de casse. Ca y est, bateau terminé quelques jours avant Noël ! Vous auriez vu la surprise et surtout le sourire de mon petit Jonas en découvrant son BISMARCK ! Et le grand-père tout aussi heureux que lui !
