To accompany the very beautiful Typhoon seen recently, here is his young sibling in the R.A.F. hunting units from 1944. Although it had a family resemblance with this one, it was to be called Typhoon II, but in view of the aerodynamic and structural differences, new wings, lengthened fuselage, enlarged tail fin, same engine but more powerful version, short tube guns, it was actually a brand new device, hence the name change. Designed as a low-altitude interceptor, it made its debut in V-1 hunting where its speed proved very useful, then as an interceptor where it illustrated itself in fights against the first jet fighter of the Luftwaffe, the formidable Me 262 at the end of the war. The model does not present any particular difficulty, it offers interesting possibilities for detailing the cockpit and the engine, due to scale, but I have finished everything even though I made an effort on the paintings.
For the decor, I chose one of Pierre CLOSTERMANN’s devices; I wanted to make a famous JF-E, but it lacked the winning points shown in the photo taken after May 8, 1945. Sorry for the terrible photos, but my usual photo spot has been rendered unusable because of the bushes that mask the depth of field, ecology, ecology when you hold us…
