CHOLET 2026

Ah ! Ah! The CHOLET exhibition! Laurent at the microphone reminds us that it’s been 32 years already (every two years) and we haven’t missed any. I even still have the rewards from the first editions. So, when the file arrived, we could only reserve our participation. Also note that it has been 32 years since we took the same hotel, which changed its name and management several times. 4 campistes will be in the game. Meeting on Friday at 11:30 at William’s place in QUIMPER, Guy and André are pounding the rendezvous.

Short break at 150, in the gallery of LECLERC (a good address, fast and efficient) and route CHOLET. We leave our beautiful Brittany under a radiant weather to, along the way, find rain, without interruption, until our arrival. The road was smooth, except for the passage from hell to NANTES where, stuck in traffic, we could almost have set up a barbecue to wait on the edge of the ring road. Arrived at CHOLET, taking into account the house (and yes, that’s right, an ex-soldier). Then, we arrive at the Parc de la Meilleraie. Very nice welcome with Laurent and his gang (it can’t be otherwise). And we find our 15 m location with a couple from Quimpérois very nice (like what, chance does well things). Installation of the stand, the big boats for André, the impressive SF collection for William and finally my Japanese fleet. We meet all the friends again with great pleasure. All-you-can-eat Chinese restaurant in the evening (always the same), then night-night.

Laurent had sent us an alert message for possible tensions with the demonstrations on October 17, so he recommended arriving at the meeting room early. We are there at 8:30. Big annoyance and great anxiety for the CAMPI team, because Guy forgot to take his toothpaste tube! In this large hall, it’s very chilly. The two large halls have filled up and are starting a nice morning of discussions and exchanges with the organizers, exhibitors and traders (the pleasure always renewed to find LE PETIT MATOS and Mr. BARA). Lunch, cold meal trays and still chilly in the room (I should have listened to my Mie and put on a sweater). Friendly meal in a cheerful atmosphere, especially with gray hair. Afternoon on a gentle slope, between strolling between the stands and a rest period at our stand to rest my legs. For once, André does not bring the entire success with his Richelieu to the public, because there are many aficionados of William’s SF and as many of my Japanese fleet (where I am told that it is unusual to see such a collection). Saturday night, the same all-you-can-eat Chinese restaurant. Little anecdote: a charming lady in the service, of a certain age, celebrated her birthday two years ago. I politely ask him if it’s his birthday. And yes, right on the nose, I explain to him that we come every two years to his school. Of course, there is a good mood and they are offering us a round of Choum. Saturday evening, card parties at the hotel, then TV to attend the national consternation.

Alors !!!! Bravo !!! Sunday morning, departure scheduled for 10 a.m., everyone being ready, we will be at the gym at 9:30. Re-palabre (and Pierrot, isn’t he here? How is he? Tell him hello). Re-visit the stands, photo marathon, cold lunch trays (it’s better in the halls, probably because of the human heat). Afternoon with a gentle slope. Note that many modelers did not hesitate to drive for hours to come and spend the day with their friends, a pleasure to find them all. In this exhibition, in addition to the talent of the model makers and figurinists, I discovered wonders made by humble people. My KAGA put up for competition didn’t pass, but with good reason, because I found a master in this kind of achievement. So!!!! Congratulations!!!

Evening repacking, the au-revoirs and the road to Quimper then Crozon, rapid passage from Nantes, smooth road. What to say about this success, the consequent work of all these volunteers gathered around Laurent, a thousand thanks, a thousand cheers and I hope, see you in two years.
