Pour tout finistérien qui se respecte et qui s’intéresse à la marine française, il lui est impossible de ne pas connaître le porte hélicoptère « JEANNE D’ARC » … La seule référence qui a existé depuis longtemps était la vénérable boîte de chez HELLER au 1/400 ème. For any Finistère resident who respects themselves and is interested in the French Navy, it is impossible not to know the helicopter carrier « JEANNE D’ARC »… The only reference that has existed for a long time was the venerable kit from HELLER at 1/400 scale.
TRUMPETER a sorti la maquette au 1/350 faisant la joie de nombreux maquettistes (certes la boîte a ses défauts)… Mais à titre personnel cela ne me dérange pas. Boîte vite acquise. A l’ouverture, rien de particulier (pas de pièce 3d, hélicoptères en plastique transparent (le plastique impossible à travailler). Le montage est classique. Rien de particulier. La teinte sera faite en gunze H334 car je n’arrive plus à trouver la gunze H324. Le pont sera en gris foncé. Par contre, je rate totalement la mise en place du décalcomanie avec les chiffres blancs du pont (le decal s’est tout recroquevillé sur lui-même). Je fais donc un masquage au scotch puis blanc à l’aéro (les chiffres viennent d’un set de décalcomanie de chez l’Arsenal) puis avec le vieillissement du pont, le resultat me convient. Les radars sont en photo découpe, je ne les monte pas. Je commande chez L’ARSENAL, les radars et les hélicos (super frelon / alouette 3). Et là, une longue attente avant que la commande arrive… donc en attendant je monte les rambardes et divers accessoires, le mât. Et puis un jour enfin, la dite commande arrive. Les radars sont superbes et je vois que les hélicos ne sont pas en une seule pièce… Le montage des hélicos sera une énorme déception, les pales cassent en les découpant, les roues impossibles à installer, le rotor pareil… À titre personnel, je ne suis pas prêt de recommander des hélicos chez eux, voir des avions si le montage est identique… Pour remplacer les pales cassées, j’ai pris des pales en plastique transparent. La teinte de l’alouette sera en H5 bleu .Les super frelons seront en H334 sans le camouflage gris foncé. Mise en place de l’équipage avec les figurines déjà peintes EDUARD. Puis création du diorama et mise en place du bateau. Le résultat est superbe et je dédie cette maquette de bateau à toutes les petites mains de l’arsenal de Brest (dont deux qui étaient celles de mon pépé LOUIS) qui ont œuvré à la construction de la vraie « JEANNE D’ARC ».

TRUMPETER released the model at 1/350, making many modellers happy (certainly the box has its flaws)… But personally, it doesn’t bother me. A company quickly acquired. At the opening, nothing particular (no 3d part, transparent plastic helicopters (plastic impossible to work). The assembly is classic. Nothing particular. The shade will be made with gunze H334 because I can no longer find the gunze H324. The bridge will be in dark gray. On the other hand, I totally miss setting up the decal with the white numbers of the bridge (the decal has all curled up on itself). So I do a masking with tape then white with aero (the numbers come from a decal set from the Arsenal) then with the aging of the bridge, the result suits me. The radars are in photoetching, I do not mount themorder from L’ARSENAL, the radars and the helicopters (super frelon / lark 3). And there, a long wait before the order arrives… so in the meantime I put up the railings and various accessories, the mast. And then one day finally, the said order arrives. The radars are superb and I see that the helicopters are not in one piece… The assembly of the helicopters will be a huge disappointment, the blades break while cutting them, the wheels impossible to install, the rotor similar… Personally, I am not ready to recommend helicopters to them, or even planes if the setup is identical… To replace the broken blades, I chose transparent plastic blades. The shade of the skylark will be blue H5. The super hornets will be in H334 without the dark gray camouflage. Setting up the crew with the already painted EDUARD figures. Then creation of the diorama and setup of the boat. The result is superb and I dedicate this model boat to all the little hands of the arsenal of Brest (including two that were those of my grandpa LOUIS) who worked on the construction of the real « JEANNE D’ARC ».
